The American Association of Special Districts will host the first-ever Great Lakes/Heartland Special Districts Governance Summit in Munster, Ind. (just outside Chicago), on October 23-24, 2025. AASD is excited to host the event in conjunction with our First Annual Membership Meeting and Professional Network Reception.

Elected and appointed directors/trustees, managers/administrators, and staff of special districts and authorities (from all types of districts) from across the region will gather for two full days of thought-provoking and motivating perspectives on longtime and emerging district governance topics – geared special district leaders.

Summit attendees will gain perspective on the importance of community engagement, building intergovernmental relationships for funding success, solutions for procurement, municipal finance, human resources considerations for special districts, and the latest in state + federal advocacy. Special districts that have attended these Summits 

AASD strives to deliver these resources in the “backyards” of America’s special purpose government leaders, in regions where such conferences have never occurred, and in a way that is affordable for all types and sizes of special districts.
